Ensure the supplier provides a Children's Product Certificate (CPC) and laboratory test reports for lead and phthalate content.

For collector-grade models, prioritize 1:43 or 1:50 scales, opening doors/engine hoods, and highly detailed interiors. For play-grade (toy) models, focus on pull-back functions, integrated LED lights and sound effects, and reinforced axles to withstand rough handling. Rubber tires are preferred over plastic for better grip and realism in both categories.

Request a pre-shipment inspection focusing on the mold precision (no sharp burrs or visible seam lines). Check the tampography (logo printing) for alignment and sharpness. For articulated buses, test the swivel joint durability to ensure it can withstand repeated bending without snapping.

Diecast models are heavy and fragile. Insist on double-walled corrugated export cartons and individual window box packaging with internal plastic inserts (blisters) to secure the model. For bulk sea freight, use pallets with shrink wrap to prevent moisture and crushing.

Focus on tooling/mold costs if requesting custom designs; high-volume orders (over 2,000 units) should allow you to amortize the mold fee to zero. For ready-to-ship items, negotiate based on annual volume commitments rather than single-order quantities to secure a 10-15% discount.

If the bus model features real-world brands (e.g., Mercedes-Benz, MAN, or Greyhound), ensure the supplier holds a valid licensing agreement. Importing unlicensed 'look-alike' models can lead to customs seizure and heavy fines. Always request a Letter of Authorization (LOA) from the manufacturer.

For sample orders, use air express (DHL/FedEx) for speed and tracking. For small-to-medium batches, LCL (Less than Container Load) is cost-effective. For large-scale distribution, FCL (Full Container Load) via sea freight is essential to minimize the landed cost per unit.
