Custom display shells often require expensive molds. To protect your investment, use a staged payment plan: 30% upfront, 40% after T1 sample approval, and 30% after final quality inspection. Always request a Golden Sample—a physical unit signed by both parties—to serve as the definitive quality benchmark for the entire production run.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for free mold maintenance for a specific number of shots (e.g., 500,000 cycles) and ask for volume-based rebates. If you are a long-term buyer, request OEM/ODM exclusivity for your specific design to prevent the supplier from selling your proprietary shell shape to competitors.

Display shells, especially those with large surface areas or high-gloss finishes, are prone to scratching. Insist on PE protective film on all visible surfaces and custom-fit EPE foam inserts for shipping. For international sea freight, ensure the outer cartons are 5-layer corrugated fiberboard and palletized with plastic wrap to prevent moisture damage during transit.

Stay informed about Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) and Section 301 tariffs (for US buyers) which may apply to aluminum or plastic components from specific regions. Check the Harmonized System (HS) Code—typically 3926.90 for plastic or 7616.99 for aluminum—to calculate accurate import duties before finalizing the purchase.
