Euro pallet

A standard Euro Pallet (EUR 1) must measure 1200 x 800 x 144 mm. It is constructed using 11 boards, 9 solid wood or chipboard blocks, and 78 nails driven in a specific pattern. The load capacity is critical: it must support a working load of 1,500 kg and a static load of up to 4,000 kg when stacked on a flat surface.

All wood pallets used in cross-border trade must comply with ISPM 15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15). This requires the wood to be Heat Treated (HT) to a core temperature of 56°C for 30 minutes to prevent the spread of pests. The biggest risk is non-compliance with ISPM 15, which can lead to customs seizure, expensive fumigation fees, or forced re-exportation at the buyer's expense. Pallets are 'shipping air' if not managed correctly. To maximize cost-efficiency, use Full Container Loads (FCL). A 40ft High Cube container can typically hold around 500-600 stacked Euro pallets.
