Always verify the COF (Coefficient of Friction); a value of ≥0.60 (wet) is the standard for slip resistance in public commercial spaces to meet safety compliance.

Request products from the same production batch (Tone/Dye Lot) to avoid shade variations. Specify a rectified edge requirement if you desire narrow grout lines, as these tiles are mechanically cut to precise dimensions with a tolerance of less than 0.5mm. Before shipping, ask the supplier to provide a dry-lay photo of tiles from different boxes to verify visual uniformity.

Ensure the supplier complies with ISO 13006 or EN 14411 standards, which define the terms and characteristics for ceramic tiles. For the North American market, look for ANSI A137.1 certification. If you are sourcing eco-friendly projects, prioritize suppliers with LEED certification or Green Squared certification, ensuring the products meet strict environmental and social sustainability criteria.

Glazed Porcelain offers a wider variety of designs and colors due to the inkjet printing layer but can show wear if the glaze is chipped. Full Body (Unglazed) Tiles have the color and pattern running through the entire thickness of the tile, making them extremely durable and ideal for heavy-duty industrial environments where chips or scratches would be less visible.

The biggest risk is breakage due to improper palletization. Ensure the supplier uses fumigated wooden pallets with reinforced corner protectors and shrink-wrap stabilization. For FCL (Full Container Load) shipments, the total weight often reaches the limit before the volume is full; verify that your local port and inland transport can handle heavy 20ft containers (often up to 27-28 tons).

Focus on the Total Landed Cost rather than just the FOB price. Negotiate a tiered pricing structure where the unit price drops by 5-10% when moving from a trial pallet to a full container. For custom designs, expect a higher MOQ of at least 500-1,000 square meters. Always request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) by a third party like SGS or Intertek to ensure quality before final payment.

Use secured payment terms such as a Letter of Credit (L/C) for very large orders or Escrow-based services provided by reputable platforms. Avoid 100% upfront payments; a standard industry practice is a 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) copy after quality verification.

Check for Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) which are frequently applied to ceramic tiles in regions like the EU, USA, and India. Consult with a customs broker to confirm the correct HS Code (typically 6907) and check if your country offers preferential tariffs for goods with a Certificate of Origin (Form E or Form P) provided by the Chinese supplier.
