The selection of bond hardness must be inversely proportional to the hardness of the granite being cut. For soft granite, a hard bond is required to prevent the segment from wearing down too quickly. Always provide the supplier with the specific type or origin of the stone to ensure the formula is optimized.

Key specifications include diamond concentration, grit size, and segment height. A standard high-quality segment usually features a height of 12mm, 15mm, or 20mm. Ensure the sandwich structure (multi-layer) is used for large blades to provide faster cutting speeds and better cooling, while multilayer/ordered diamond distribution (Arix technology) is preferred for maximum efficiency and lifespan.

Suppliers should ideally hold ISO 9001 certification for quality management. For safety, especially if the segments are being welded onto blades in Europe or the US, compliance with EN13236 safety standards is essential. Ensure the welding strength (shear strength) meets international safety benchmarks to prevent segment detachment during high-speed rotation.

Do not focus solely on the unit price; instead, calculate the cost per square meter of cutting. A segment that costs 20% more but lasts 50% longer or cuts 30% faster offers much higher economic value. Request test reports regarding the total cutting area (life) and cutting speed (cm²/min) before placing bulk orders.

The primary risk is formula inconsistency between the sample and the bulk order. Ensure the supplier provides a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) if required, although segments are generally non-hazardous.
