The belt width should be at least 10-15% wider than your largest fabric panel to prevent edge curling. For high-speed industrial production, a longer heating zone (e.g., 600mm to 1000mm) is essential to ensure the adhesive reaches its melting point without slowing down the conveyor speed. For small-scale boutiques, a compact tabletop model with a 400mm-600mm width is usually sufficient.

Ensure the machine carries the CE Marking for European markets or UL/ETL certification for North America. Critical safety features must include an emergency stop button, automatic belt alignment (to prevent tracking errors), and a cool-down timer that keeps the belt moving until the temperature drops below 80°C, preventing belt deformation and fire hazards.

Continuous fusing machines are ideal for mass production and long fabric rolls, offering higher efficiency and consistent results. Flatbed presses (clamshell or swing-away) are better suited for small batches, collars, and cuffs, providing higher localized pressure which is often required for heavy-duty interlinings.

Always request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) or a third-party factory audit. Ask the supplier to provide a video of the machine running with a date stamp and your order number visible. Ensure the machine is packed in a fumigated wooden crate with vacuum-sealed plastic wrapping and desiccant bags to prevent rust during sea transit.

Focus on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for a spare parts kit (including extra belts, heating elements, and sensors) to be included in the initial price. For large orders, request tiered pricing and clarify the warranty period—top-tier suppliers usually offer a 12 to 24-month warranty on core components.

Confirm if the supplier provides English-language manuals and video troubleshooting guides. Prioritize suppliers who offer remote technical support via video call and have a clear policy for express-shipping replacement parts. Check if they have a presence on Made-in-China.com with a 'Diamond Member' or 'Audited Supplier' status for higher reliability.

Due to the weight and sensitivity of interlining machines, LCL (Less than Container Load) or FCL (Full Container Load) shipping is recommended. Clarify the Incoterms (e.g., FOB or CIF) clearly in the contract. Ensure you have a local customs broker to handle import duties and VAT, and verify if your country requires specific electrical frequency (50Hz vs 60Hz) and voltage adjustments before the machine is built.
