Always request valid test reports from accredited third-party labs (such as UL, Intertek, or TUV). Do not rely solely on digital certificates; verify the certificate number on the issuing body's website. For high-volume orders, consider a pre-shipment inspection where a random sample is tested for actual buoyancy lift using a water tank and weights.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for tiered pricing based on annual volume and ask for spare parts (extra buckles and straps) to be included at no cost. Request a sample at the production-grade level before signing the contract to ensure the mass-produced items match the approved quality.

PFDs are bulky items that can lead to high shipping costs due to volumetric weight. Work with freight forwarders to optimize vacuum packaging (if the foam type allows) to reduce volume. If the PFDs include CO2 cylinders (for inflatable models), they are classified as Dangerous Goods (Class 9), requiring special documentation, labeling, and higher freight rates.
