Unlike ABS, which is rigid and prone to cracking, 100% PC shells will flex under pressure and pop back into shape. Buyers should verify the use of 100% Virgin Polycarbonate (such as Makrolon®) rather than recycled blends. For the US market, ensure TSA-approved integrated locks are used. For the EU, products must comply with REACH regulations regarding phthalates and heavy metals in plastics. General quality benchmarks include ISO 9001 for manufacturing and BSCI for social compliance. Performance testing should follow ASTM standards for drop tests (usually 90cm at full load) and wheel mileage tests (minimum 30km).

Many low-cost suppliers use ABS/PC composites (ABS core with a thin PC film). While cheaper, these lack the durability of pure PC. To verify, request a burn test report or a density analysis. Pure PC is more transparent in its raw form and has a higher melting point. Always ask for a cross-section sample to inspect the material layers.

Luggage is high-volume but relatively light. Ensure the supplier uses 5-layer corrugated export cartons and individual non-woven dust bags for each unit. For RTS (Ready-to-Ship) goods, negotiate based on payment terms, such as a 30/70 split, to maintain leverage until the Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) is passed.
