Direct-to-Garment (DTG) is ideal for complex, multi-color designs and small batches, providing a soft hand-feel. Heat Transfer/Vinyl is best for simple logos or numbering, while Sublimation is essential for all-over prints on 100% polyester fabrics to ensure the ink becomes part of the fiber, preventing cracking or peeling.

For cotton T-shirts, prioritize Combed Cotton over carded cotton to ensure a smoother printing surface and less pilling. The weight, measured in GSM (Grams per Square Meter), is critical: 140-160 GSM is standard for promotional use, while 180-220 GSM is preferred for premium streetwear. Ensure the fabric is Pre-shrunk to prevent design distortion after the first wash.

To ensure market entry and consumer safety, verify that suppliers hold OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, which guarantees the absence of harmful substances in both fabric and inks. For organic lines, GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the gold standard. If exporting to the US, ensure compliance with CPSIA (especially for children's wear), and for the EU, adhere to REACH chemical regulations.

Always request a Pre-production Sample (PPS). Conduct a Wash Test (at least 5-10 cycles at 40°C) to check for fading, cracking, or peeling of the print. Perform a Crocking Test (ISO 105-X12) to ensure the dye/ink does not transfer onto other surfaces. Additionally, check the Stitch Density (SPI - Stitches Per Inch); a higher SPI generally indicates better garment construction.

Utilize secure payment methods and trade assurance services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. Always verify the supplier's Business License and Audit Reports. For large transactions, consider using an Escrow service where funds are only released upon confirmation of receipt and quality inspection.

Negotiate based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Ask for Tiered Pricing (e.g., 500, 1000, 5000 units) to understand the manufacturer's scaling efficiency. If you are a startup, negotiate a Lower MOQ for the first order by promising a higher volume in subsequent quarters, or offer to use Stock Fabrics already available at the factory to reduce costs.

For urgent samples or small batches (<100kg), Air Express (DHL/FedEx/UPS) is fastest. For bulk production, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical. When shipping to the US or Europe, consider DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms if you want the supplier to handle all customs duties and local delivery, simplifying your internal logistics.

Before sharing high-resolution design files, have the supplier sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) that specifically covers design reproduction rights. Ensure your Trademark is registered in both the sourcing country and the destination market to prevent unauthorized 'overrun' production or brand infringement.
