Confirm that the PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) resin used is virgin grade to guarantee maximum chemical inertness against aggressive acids, alkalis, and solvents. The operating temperature range should be clearly defined, as PTFE can typically handle from -29°C to +200°C. For applications involving high thermal cycling, ask the supplier for spark testing (typically 10kV to 20kV) results to ensure there are no pinholes or defects in the lining.

Suppliers should provide certifications such as ISO 9001 for quality management. For pressure-retaining components, CE/PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) or ASME U-Stamp certification is essential. If the tank is used in the food or pharmaceutical industry, ensure the PTFE lining is FDA compliant and the manufacturing process meets GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.

These tanks are primarily used for the storage and processing of corrosive chemicals such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and strong oxidizers. They are vital in fine chemical production, pharmaceutical synthesis, semiconductor wet processing, and wastewater treatment where metal contamination must be avoided and equipment longevity is a priority.

Always mandate a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) conducted by a reputable third-party agency like SGS or TÜV. Specifically, request a Hydrostatic Test and a High-Voltage Spark Test on the lining. Ensure the transaction is protected by Trade Assurance or a Letter of Credit (L/C) to hold payment until quality benchmarks are verified.

Focus on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the initial purchase price. Negotiate for a longer warranty period (at least 12-24 months) and request detailed technical drawings (CAD/BIM) for approval before production begins. Inquire about bulk discounts if you are ordering multiple units, as shipping costs per unit decrease significantly with volume.

Due to the fragile nature of the internal lining, the tank must be secured with internal bracing and the flanges must be protected with blind covers and gaskets. Specify FOB or CIF terms clearly in the contract. Ensure the supplier uses seaworthy wooden crates or steel frames and includes shock sensors on the packaging to monitor handling during transit to your specific country.
