Buyers must verify the weight per square meter (GSM), usually ranging from 120g to 140g for premium apparel grade. Confirm the use of Vat dyes or Reactive dyes to ensure colorfastness (Grade 4 or higher), preventing bleeding during washing, which is critical for garment manufacturing.

Real Wax uses a labor-intensive wax-resist process, resulting in a unique texture and scent, whereas Imitation Wax (Fancy Prints) is produced via screen or digital printing on one side only. Real Wax is more breathable and the colors are deeply integrated into the fibers. Check the selvage (edge of the fabric); authentic premium wax often includes printed text such as 'Guaranteed Real Wax' or 'Veritable Wax' along with a specific design number.

The primary risks include color variance between digital photos and physical goods, and batch inconsistency. To mitigate this, always request a pre-production sample (PPS). Another risk is short-shipment, where the actual yardage is less than stated; ensure your contract specifies that measurement must be conducted in a relaxed state to account for fabric tension.

Focus on tiered pricing based on total yardage rather than just the number of designs. Negotiate for customized labeling or branding on the selvage if you are an OEM buyer. Ask for transparency regarding the base cloth origin; premium Chinese suppliers often use high-grade Xinjiang cotton which offers superior strength. Request a discount for repeat orders or a 'mix-and-match' MOQ policy to test multiple patterns.

Fabrics are heavy and bulky. For large volumes, FOB (Free On Board) is recommended to maintain control over shipping costs. Ensure the supplier uses double-layer waterproof packaging (inner plastic bag + outer woven bag) to prevent moisture damage or staining during sea transit. For smaller boutique orders, Air Freight is viable but ensure the fabric is vacuum-packed to reduce volumetric weight.
