Silicon sealants are often classified as Class 9 Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods or non-hazardous depending on the solvent content. The main risk is temperature fluctuation during sea transit; extreme heat can cause tubes to burst or the chemicals to degrade. Ensure the supplier uses temperature-controlled containers or reinforced palletizing to prevent leakage and pressure damage.

Request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) and specify that the batch must match the approved sample's VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) levels. Negotiate a staged payment plan (e.g., 30% deposit, 70% after third-party lab testing) and use Trade Assurance services to protect your funds until the quality is verified.
