Ensure all packaging meets FDA (US) or EC 1223/2009 (EU) cosmetic safety regulations. Suppliers should provide BPA-free certifications and Heavy Metal Testing reports (EN 71-3 or ASTM F963). For brands targeting eco-conscious markets, verify GRS (Global Recycled Standard) if using PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) plastics, and ensure the supplier holds an ISO 9001 or ISO 15378 (Primary packaging for medicinal products) certification.

To differentiate your brand, look for suppliers offering Silk Screen Printing for durability, Hot Stamping (Gold/Silver foil) for a premium feel, and UV Electroplating for a metallic finish. For a modern aesthetic, Matte Frosting is popular. Ensure the supplier can provide Pantone color matching with a tolerance of Delta E < 2.0 to maintain brand consistency across different production batches.

Skincare packaging, especially glass, is fragile. Require the supplier to use five-layer corrugated export cartons and individual cell dividers (egg-crate packaging). For bulk orders, specify palletization with plastic wrap and corner protectors. Always request a Drop Test Report (ISTA 1A or 2A) before the goods leave the factory to ensure the packaging can withstand overseas shipping stresses.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for lower MOQs on customized colors by offering to pay for the masterbatch upfront. Ask for tiered pricing (e.g., 5k, 10k, 50k units) to plan for scaling. To secure the transaction, use secured payment services provided by the platform and insist on a Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) by a third party like SGS or Intertek.

Verify if the supplier has a proven track record in your target market. Experienced exporters will be familiar with HS Code 392330 (Plastic bottles) or 701090 (Glass containers) and can provide accurate documentation for customs clearance. They should also be aware of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations in Europe, which may require specific recycling symbols to be printed on the packaging.
