A professional SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) lifebuoy must have an outer diameter of no more than 800mm and an inner diameter of no less than 400mm. SOLAS lifebuoys must be fitted with retro-reflective tape that complies with IMO Resolution A.658(16). There should be four strips of 50mm width placed symmetrically around the buoy.
