Gas-fired boilers offer lower emissions and easier automation, while biomass boilers provide lower fuel costs in specific regions but require higher maintenance. Evaluate the burner brand (e.g., Baltur or Riello) as it dictates fuel combustion efficiency and long-term reliability.

A professional-grade boiler must include an automatic over-temperature alarm, low flow rate protection, and an expansion tank level sensor. The system should also feature a nitrogen blanketing system for the expansion tank to prevent the thermal oil from oxidizing, which extends the oil lifespan and prevents sludge buildup.

The biggest risks include damage during maritime transit and non-compliance with local boiler inspectorate regulations. To mitigate this, insist on seaworthy packaging (vacuum packing for electrical components and reinforced steel frames) and hire a third-party inspector (like SGS or BV) to conduct a hydraulic pressure test before the final balance payment.
