If exporting to the US, NSF/ANSI 51 or 61 certification is often required for potable water. For medical devices, ensure the supplier provides USP Class VI compliance and ISO 10993 biocompatibility reports to ensure safety and non-toxicity.

A high-quality TPU tube should demonstrate excellent elastic recovery (returning to its original shape after stretching) and UV resistance if used outdoors. Check for transparency levels; high-clarity tubes allow for easy visual inspection of fluid flow. Furthermore, the tube should maintain its properties across a wide temperature range, typically from -40°C to +80°C, without becoming brittle or overly soft.

Request a Material Data Sheet (TDS) and a Third-Party Inspection Report (such as SGS or Intertek). It is highly recommended to use Made-in-China.com's 'Audited Supplier' reports to verify the factory's production capacity. Before the final balance payment, consider hiring a local inspector to perform a kink test and pressure burst test on random samples from the production lot.

The primary risk is material substitution, where a supplier mixes TPU with cheaper PVC to lower costs. To mitigate this, specify the specific gravity (density) in the contract and perform a burn test on samples (TPU has a distinct smell and melts differently than PVC). Another risk is deformation during transit; ensure the contract specifies proper spooling and reinforced carton packaging to prevent the tubes from being crushed under heavy cargo.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for customized labeling and packaging (OEM) which can save you local labor costs. For long-term partnerships, ask for a price sliding scale based on annual volume commitments. Always clarify the Incoterms (e.g., FOB or CIF) and ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin to help you benefit from potential preferential tariff rates in your country.

TPU is sensitive to extreme heat and prolonged UV exposure. Ensure the shipping containers are stored away from heat sources on the vessel. For LCL (Less than Container Load) shipments, specify that the tubes must be palletized and shrink-wrapped to prevent moisture ingress and physical damage from other cargo. If shipping to regions with high humidity, include desiccant packs inside the packaging.
