In the international market, you should prioritize suppliers whose products comply with RMI (Rack Manufacturers Institute) standards for the US or EN 15512:2009 for Europe. Ensure the manufacturer holds ISO 9001 quality management certification and provides CE marking. Additionally, verify that the powder coating is non-toxic and meets ASTM salt spray testing requirements for corrosion resistance.

For high-density storage with low turnover, Drive-in Racking or Push-back Racking is ideal. For First-In-First-Out (FIFO) requirements and high turnover, Selective Pallet Racking is the most versatile and cost-effective. If you are dealing with long materials like pipes or timber, Cantilever Racking is the mandatory technical choice.

If the racking is for cold storage or outdoor use, standard powder coating is insufficient. You must specify Hot-Dip Galvanized (HDG) steel to prevent rust and structural failure caused by condensation or extreme temperatures. For standard dry warehouses, a high-quality electrostatic powder coating is sufficient for durability and scratch resistance.

The biggest risks are shipping damage and structural deformation. Because racking components are heavy and bulky, they can bend if not packed correctly. Insist on steel pallet packaging and bubble wrap protection. Furthermore, verify the steel grade (e.g., Q235B or Q355B) through a third-party material analysis report to ensure the supplier isn't using inferior, recycled scrap metal.

Utilize Trade Assurance services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until delivery. Always hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform an in-factory audit during production and a loading supervision to check weld quality and coating thickness before the container is sealed.

Racking is high-volume cargo; therefore, Sea Freight (FCL - Full Container Load) is the only economically feasible method. Request a detailed packing list that matches the installation manual. Since you cannot easily return defective heavy steel, ask the supplier to provide 1-2% extra safety pins and bolts as spares. Ensure the supplier provides 3D installation drawings or video guidance to avoid assembly errors on-site.
