The longevity of a vanity often depends on its hardware. Specify 304 stainless steel soft-close hinges and drawer slides to prevent rusting and slamming. For the countertop, sintered stone or Grade A quartz is recommended due to their low water absorption rate (<0.05%) and high scratch resistance. Ensure the ceramic basin is fired at temperatures above 1280°C to achieve a smooth, easy-to-clean glaze.

For international trade, compliance is non-negotiable. Ensure products meet EPA TSCA Title VI or CARB Phase 2 standards for formaldehyde emissions in the US, or E1/E0 grade for European markets. If the vanity includes integrated LED mirrors or sockets, they must carry UL, ETL, or CE certification to ensure electrical safety and facilitate customs clearance.

Request suppliers to provide evidence of dovetail joint construction for drawers, which provides much higher load-bearing capacity than glued joints. The finish should be inspected for color consistency and smoothness; high-quality units will have no visible bubbles, cracks, or 'orange peel' texture on the surface. Ask for a 24-hour salt spray test report for all metal handles and accessories.

The biggest risks are moisture damage during sea transit and physical breakage. You must require the supplier to use five-layer corrugated export cartons with honeycomb board or EPE foam protection on all corners. For units with stone tops, wooden crate reinforcement is mandatory to prevent cracking during multi-modal transport.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for a lower MOQ on trial orders (e.g., 5-10 sets) to test market response, and request 2%-3% spare parts (like hinges and handles) to be included free of charge. For large volume orders, aim for a 15-20% discount compared to sample pricing.

Always use secured payment terms and consider hiring a third-party inspection service (like SGS or Intertek) to conduct a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI). Ensure the Proforma Invoice (PI) clearly states the wood species, moisture content requirements (typically 8%-12%), and packaging specifications to provide legal recourse in case of disputes.

Verify the HS Code (typically 9403.60) to determine the exact duty rate in your country. Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) that may apply to wooden vanity imports from certain regions. Ensure the supplier provides a Fumigation Certificate if solid wood packaging is used, as per ISPM 15 standards, to avoid port delays or cargo rejection.
