Enclosed Platform Laser Welding Machine with Vision System for Metal Parts

Before each weld, the integrated camera captures an image of the workpiece in the fixture. The system compares the actual part position to the programmed reference coordinates. If the deviation is within the acceptable tolerance, the system automatically adjusts the weld path to match the actual position and proceeds. If the deviation exceeds the tolerance, the machine flags a misload and stops for operator correction.

The system detects part misalignment in the fixture, slight shifts from fixture wear over time, part-to-part variation from stamping or machining tolerances, and differences in how operators load parts. It does not correct for gross errors like loading the wrong part number or placing a part in completely the wrong orientation-those are flagged as misloads.

The position capture and analysis take a fraction of a second before each weld. For most production applications, the added time is negligible and is offset by the reduction in rework, scrap, and manual inspection that vision positioning eliminates. The overall production throughput typically improves because fewer parts need to be reworked or scrapped.

The vision system is configured with lighting and image processing optimized for metal surfaces. It works reliably on stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, copper, and brass parts. For parts with unusual surface finishes-mirror-polished, heavily textured, or coated-we recommend sample testing to confirm imaging performance with your specific materials.
