Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) is an alloy with higher strength but greater sensitivity to heat input-excessive energy can cause grain growth and embrittlement in the heat-affected zone. The machine stores separate weld programs for each grade, with optimized pulse parameters that account for these differences.

A straw-colored weld indicates slight oxidation. Blue indicates deeper oxidation. Grey indicates heavy oxidation and embrittlement. All are unacceptable for quality titanium welding. The enclosed cabinet with integrated gas management prevents this by maintaining uninterrupted argon coverage from before the laser fires until the part is cool enough to handle.

Using the 1500W configuration with optimized pulse settings and proper argon shielding, titanium as thin as 0.1mm can be welded. The combination of precise pulse energy control and continuous gas coverage is essential for maintaining weld quality at these thicknesses.

Yes. The 1500W configuration handles thin-gauge titanium up to approximately 1mm, while the 2000W configuration provides the additional energy needed for sections from 1mm to 2mm. Weld programs for both power levels can be stored and recalled from the control system.
