Steel Shaft Forging for Pressure Gauge Components

Forging transforms solid metal from one shape to another through plastic deformation, while casting transforms liquid metal into a solid shape by pouring it into a mold. Forging is a solid-to-solid process, whereas casting is a solid-liquid-solid process.

High-quality forgings are selected through external observation (checking shape, dimensions, surface defects like cracks or bubbles) and internal testing (analyzing chemical composition, mechanical properties, and using specialized instruments to detect internal defects like fractures or shrinkage).

The process for circular forgings includes pier roughening, elongation, punching, and expanding. Free forging uses a horse screw for expanding holes, while ring rolling uses rolling for this purpose.

The product uses 45# carbon structural steel, which has a carbon content of 0.42-0.50%. It offers good cutting performance, high hardness after quenching, and excellent strength and toughness after tempering.
