Buyers should prioritize Yarn Count (e.g., 30s, 40s, 60s), as higher counts indicate finer, smoother fabric. The Combing Process is critical; it removes short fibers and impurities, resulting in superior strength, higher luster, and reduced pilling. Additionally, verify the Fabric Weight (GSM) to ensure it matches the intended use—typically 130-180 GSM for T-shirts and higher for bedding or heavy apparel.

To ensure safety and environmental compliance, look for OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, which guarantees the fabric is free from harmful substances. For organic requirements, GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the gold standard. If exporting to the US, ensure compliance with CPSIA for children's products, and for the EU, verify REACH chemical regulation adherence.

Request a Third-Party Lab Test Report (SGS or ITS) focusing on Fiber Content Analysis and Pilling Resistance (ISO 12945-2). A true combed fabric should show minimal surface fuzz and high Colorfastness to Washing (Grade 4 or above). You should also request A4-sized hand-feel samples or a yardage sample to test for shrinkage, which should ideally be under 5%.

High-count combed cotton (60s-100s) is ideal for luxury bed linens and high-end dress shirts due to its silky texture. Medium counts (30s-40s) are the industry standard for premium promotional apparel, underwear, and baby clothing because they balance breathability, durability, and skin-friendliness.

Always utilize Trade Analysis tools on Made-in-China.com to select Audited Suppliers. Implement a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) by a third party to check for color shading (Delta E < 1.0) and weaving defects. Never release the final 30-70% balance payment until the inspection report is approved.

Fabric prices are highly sensitive to raw cotton futures. Negotiate based on current market indices and ask for tiered pricing (e.g., 1,000m vs. 5,000m). For custom colors (Lab Dips), expect a higher MOQ per color; however, you can often negotiate a lower MOQ if you use supplier-stocked greige fabric.

Ensure the supplier provides a detailed Packing List, Commercial Invoice, and Certificate of Origin (CO) to benefit from potential Free Trade Agreements (FTA). Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties that may apply to specific textile categories in your country. For shipping, Vacuum Packaging can reduce volume and protect the fabric from moisture and mildew during sea transit.

Use Secured Payment services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to protect your funds. Avoid direct transfers to private bank accounts. Ensure the Proforma Invoice (PI) clearly states the Lead Time, Compensation Clauses for defects, and Incoterms (e.g., FOB or CIF) to avoid legal ambiguity.
