Fish feed price manufacturers

Price is directly correlated with protein content (typically 28%-45%) and the source of protein. High-quality feeds use fish meal as a primary source, which is more expensive than soybean or feather meal but offers better Feed Conversion Ratios (FCR). You must also verify the lipid (fat) levels, vitamin premixes, and amino acid profiles (like Lysine and Methionine) to ensure the feed meets the specific growth stages of your species, whether for fry, fingerlings, or adult fish.

Extruded floating feed generally commands a higher price than pressed sinking pellets due to the advanced extrusion technology and energy required for production. Floating feed allows for better monitoring of feeding behavior and reduces waste, which can be more economically feasible in the long run despite a higher initial purchase price. Ensure the supplier specifies the pellet size (ranging from 0.5mm to 10mm) to match your fish's mouth gap.

To ensure safety and international trade compliance, prioritize suppliers with ISO 22000 or HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certifications. For export to specific regions, check for GlobalG.A.P. compliance or SGS/Intertek inspection reports that confirm the absence of prohibited antibiotics, melamine, and heavy metals. This is crucial for avoiding customs seizures and ensuring the health of the aquatic livestock.

Beyond the unit price per ton, calculate the Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR); a cheaper, low-quality feed often requires more volume to achieve the same growth, increasing total costs. Look for bulk discounts (typically starting at 10-20 tons/full container loads) and consider the shelf life (usually 6-12 months) to avoid losses from spoilage. Sourcing from Made-in-China.com allows you to compare factory-direct prices against trading company markups.

The most significant risks include moisture damage during sea transit, which leads to aflatoxin/mold growth, and regulatory rejection due to non-compliant animal-derived ingredients. Always insist on vacuum-sealed or moisture-proof PP/PE woven bags and request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch before shipment.

Fish feed prices fluctuate with raw material commodities (soybean meal and fish meal markets). Negotiate long-term supply contracts with a price adjustment formula or lock in prices for a specific quarter by providing a rolling forecast. For new suppliers on Made-in-China.com, use Secured Trading services to protect your payment until the shipping documents are verified.

Fish feed is a high-volume, low-value commodity, making freight costs a large percentage of the total price. Use FOB (Free On Board) terms if you have a reliable freight forwarder to control costs, and ensure the container is clean, dry, and free of odors to prevent cross-contamination. For tropical destinations, ensure the feed is stored in ventilated areas of the vessel to prevent overheating.
