Tilapia feed price manufacturers

Tilapia require varying protein levels depending on their life cycle. For fry and fingerlings, prioritize feed with 35-45% crude protein to support rapid growth. For grow-out stages, a protein content of 28-32% is typically sufficient and more cost-effective. Ensure the feed contains essential amino acids (lysine and methionine) and a balanced lipid content (5-10%) to maintain fish health and optimize the Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR).

Floating pellets (extruded feed) are highly recommended for Tilapia because they are surface feeders. This allows farmers to monitor feeding behavior and adjust quantities, effectively reducing feed waste and preventing water quality degradation. Sinking pellets are generally cheaper but can lead to accumulation at the pond bottom, causing ammonia spikes if not managed strictly.

Look for suppliers utilizing twin-screw extrusion technology, which improves the starch gelatinization degree (>85%), making the feed more digestible. The pellets should have high water stability, remaining intact for at least 2-4 hours to prevent nutrient leaching. Additionally, verify that the pellet size is calibrated to the fish's mouth size (e.g., 0.5mm for fry, 3mm-5mm for adults).

To ensure safety and international market access, prioritize suppliers with ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications for food safety. For sustainable sourcing, look for GlobalG.A.P. or BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices) certified manufacturers. Ensure the product is free from prohibited antibiotics (like nitrofurans) and meets the mycotoxin limits (Aflatoxin <20 ppb) required by your local agricultural authority.

Feed prices are heavily influenced by the cost of soybean meal and fishmeal. To lock in better rates, consider long-term supply contracts or purchasing during harvest seasons of raw materials. On Made-in-China.com, you can negotiate tiered pricing where the unit price drops significantly as volume increases (e.g., 20ft vs. 40ft container loads).

Feed is highly susceptible to moisture and mold during sea transit. Insist on moisture-proof PE/PP woven bags and request the use of desiccants inside the container. Ensure the remaining shelf life upon arrival is at least 6-9 months. For shipping to tropical regions, use ventilated containers to prevent heat buildup which can degrade vitamins and fats.

Always conduct a factory audit or request a video inspection of the production line. Use Secured Trading Services on Made-in-China.com to ensure payments are only released upon verification of shipping documents. Request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch and consider a third-party inspection (like SGS) to verify protein levels before the balance payment is made.

Many countries require a Phytosanitary Certificate and an Import Permit for processed animal proteins. Failure to provide these can lead to quarantine delays or destruction of goods. Always confirm the HS Code (typically 2309.90) with your customs broker and ensure the supplier provides a clear Ingredient List in English to satisfy local regulatory transparency requirements.
