To optimize costs, consider ordering by the meter rather than the yard if the supplier's machinery is calibrated for metric, and always factor in a 3-5% wastage allowance for edge trimming during the binding process.

The primary risk is color inconsistency (dye lot variation) between the approved sample and the bulk production. To mitigate this, require the supplier to provide a Lab Dip for approval and use a Pantone color bridge for reference. Another risk is delamination, where the leather surface peels from the backing; this should be tested using a 180-degree peel strength test before shipment.

Focus on Tiered Pricing based on annual volume rather than a single order.
