Naphthol AS-D has performance similar to Naphthol AS but with a slightly different shade. It can be mixed with Naphthol AS to adjust the final shade. AS-D is a key intermediate for a wider range of organic pigments and is particularly valued in pigment manufacturing.

Main applications include cotton yarn and fabric dyeing and printing, viscose, silk, nylon, and diacetate fiber dyeing. It is also used for vinylon dyeing. It serves as a primer for cotton fabric printing and as an intermediate for fast pigments and organic pigments.

With Fast Red G, it produces red-orange shades. With Fast Red B, it produces bordeaux shades; with Fast Red RL, it produces rose red shades. Combined with Naphthol AS and AS-OL, it produces maroon; with AS-BO, it produces violet-maroon. It can yield orange, red, violet, and blue shades with different bases.

Naphthol AS-D is a key intermediate capable of producing an extensive range of Pigment Red variants, including PR12, PR13, PR14, PR17, PR19, PR95, PR112, PR136, PR148, PR253, and PR267.

Naphthol AS-D is a primary red primer for cotton fiber dyeing. It has low affinity for cotton and moderate coupling ability. It is used for direct printing, resist printing, and discharge printing on cotton. It is also used as an intermediate for fast pigments.
