Yes. Specially modified platinum-group MMO titanium anodes can replace lead-tin anodes for hexavalent hard chrome plating. It avoids lead sludge polluting plating bath, but standard ruthenium-iridium coatings cannot be used under chromic acid environment.
Q:What anode shape should I choose for tin and zinc steel sheet plating?
A:
Expanded titanium mesh is preferred for most continuous tin & zinc plating lines for larger reaction area and lower cell voltage. Solid titanium plates are available if you need higher structural rigidity. Conductive lugs can be custom-welded according to your tank installation.
Q:Do I need different MMO coatings for trivalent chromium and zinc-tin plating baths?
A:
Yes. Iridium-tantalum coating suits oxygen-evolution dominated trivalent chromium bath. Ruthenium-iridium MMO is more suitable for chloride-rich tin and zinc plating solutions. Mix-using will greatly shorten anode service life.
