This futon frame is unfolded flat into three rectangular sections that are joined together by multi-jointed hinge mechanisms on both sides.
Each section carries a wire grid deck of thin black mesh that is attached to the outer tubular frame by small silver tension springs spaced around the perimeter.
The front section has rounded corners and a raised U-shaped guard rail along its front edge, which helps keep a mattress in position on the deck.
Two front legs fitted with small gray end caps and joined by horizontal crossbars support the front section, while a sturdy rectangular base frame carries the middle section.
The hinged sections fold up through the multi-bar mechanisms so the frame can change from a flat sleeping position into a compact sofa seating form.
