A thermal spray process. Premixed oxygen and acetylene burn outside the nozzle. Metal or ceramic powder is fed into the flame, melted or softened, and propelled onto a pre-treated surface to form a coating.

Q:How does it bond to the substrate?

By mechanical anchoring. The coating locks into the roughened surface profile. It is not a metallurgical bond in the as-sprayed state.

Q:What materials can be sprayed?

Zinc, aluminum, copper alloys, nickel-based alloys, stainless steel, NiCrBSi self-fluxing alloys, Al2O3, Cr2O3, WC-Co, and some polymer powders.
