This hinge is made for the headrest section of a sofa or sofa bed. It connects a mounting plate to a long L shaped chrome rod through a teardrop ratchet joint.
The mounting plate has rounded corners and carries a row of elongated holes. Slotted holes allow the plate position to be fine tuned while it is screwed down.
The rod is smooth on its upper part and ribbed toward its lower end. The ribbed section grips inside the frame so the rod stays anchored in the moving part.
The ratchet joint allows the rod to be swung up and locked at several angles. Pushing the headrest to its limit releases the mechanism for return.
Bright chrome plating on the rod gives a clean finish, while the joint parts are plated for corrosion resistance. This hardware is meant to be hidden inside the upholstery.
